BGSC Membership Notes for 2015/16

Current BGSC Membership Fees & Requirements:

$25         Introductory Membership

  • Never been a BGSC member & skating level no higher than Basic 5
  • USFS Basic Skills membership

$40         Pre-Primary Membership

  • Previous BGSC member & skating level up to & including Basic 5
  • USFS Basic Skills membership
  • $20 fundraising deposit (refunded if $50 in sales & volunteer hours met)
  • 5 hour volunteer requirement

$75         Associate Membership

  • Membership for coaches or inactive skaters
  • USFS Primary/Full membership
  • No fundraising requirements

$80         Secondary Membership

  • Membership for skaters that have primary membership with another USFS club
  • BGSC membership
  • No fundraising or volunteer requirements

$120      Collegiate Membership

  • Membership for skaters that are in college
  • (4) years USFS Primary membership & (4) years BGSC membership
  • No fundraising or volunteer requirements

$90         Primary Membership

  • Membership for active skaters
  • USFS Primary membership & BGSC membership
  • $100 fundraising deposit (refunded if $200 in sales & volunteer hours met)
  • 15 hours volunteer requirement

The fundraising and volunteer requirements are per family. When a family has skaters with different BGSC memberships, the requirements for the highest BGSC membership apply. For example, a family that has a skater with a Primary membership and a skater with a Pre-Primary membership, would need to meet the Primary requirements ($200 fundraising & 15 hour volunteer).

To provide USFS memberships, the club pays fees to USFS. These fees are staying the same for the 2015-16 season. These fees are going up next year $5-$10 depending on membership.

At the May 11, 2015 board meeting it was voted to adjust the fees based on the USFS increase and to keep the fundraising & volunteer requirements the same. Since the USFS increase doesn’t take effect until July 2016, no adjustments will be made to the BGSC membership fees.

Poinsettia Sale (Order by Friday, November 20th) & FUN PASTA FUNDRAISING!

Yes it’s time to start planning for Christmas!  Schmidt Bros. Greenhouse is once again providing us with a wonderful opportunity to earn fundraising money for the skating club, by allowing us to sell their poinsettias.  They are a holiday tradition, make great Christmas gifts and are beautiful plants!  Let your co-workers, your church, your neighbors, and your family members know about the poinsettia sale and help them decorate for the holidays.

We are selling two different size plants: 6½“ (for $10) and 8½“ (for $20), with 4 color choices: red, white, pink & marble.

Top seller will receive a free plant.  All sales will count towards your fundraiser requirement and help cover the club’s operating expenses.

Orders are due by Friday, November 20th and can be mailed to the club mailbox (PO Box 566, BG 43402), placed in the club’s box at the BGSU Ice Arena, turned in at the Youth Skating registration table, or given to Beth Utz.

The poinsettias will be available for pickup at the BGSU Ice Arena on Saturday, December 5th from 8:00 – 9:30 am.
