Bowling Green Skate Club, carrying on the lifetime love of figure skating through a community of rich traditions, high standards in technical ability, artistic expression, sportsmanship and character on and off the ice.   


Scholarships Available!

Multiple scholarships are available to BGSC members (either Learn to Skate or Full/Primary).  Each scholarship is $250 and must be used at the Slater Family Ice Arena.  Recipients of the scholarships will be recognized during the Spring Exhibition being held at the Slater Family Ice Arena on Saturday, May 11.  Details about the scholarships are listed below.  

 Marissa Rose Memorial Scholarship: 

This scholarship is named in memory of Marissa Ann Rose, a 16-year old Bowling Green Skating Club member, who was killed tragically in a car accident on November 20, 2007. Marissa participated in the Bowling Green Skating Club as a volunteer coach, Ice Horizons cast member, and as a competitive skater.

Funds for this scholarship are from donations made in her honor and placed in the Bowling Green State University Foundation - Ice Arena Fund.  The Marissa Rose Memorial Scholarship is administered by the Slater Family Ice Arena.  An independent committee reviews applications and selects who will receive the scholarship.  One $250 scholarship will be awarded.   

DUE: 4/15/19 (submit to Slater Family Ice Arena Pro Shop)

Requirements: BGSC member & must have passed at least Pre-Preliminary Freestyle test or all (3) Preliminary Dance tests.

Money is to be used during the 2019 Slater Family Ice Arena Summer Figure skating season.   

Ice Horizon Scholarships (LTS/Basic Skills, Pre-Preliminary & Above):

The funding for these scholarships is from donations to Ice Horizons, Inc. and profits from the twenty-one Ice Horizons show productions.  Ice Horizons, Inc. helped to promote the art, craft and sport of figure skating among the youth and adults of Northwest Ohio.  The first Ice Horizons Show was March 29, 1968 and the last show was April 21, 2007. Past shows have featured some of the most famous ice skaters in America including Bowling Green natives and national champions Scott Hamilton and Alissa Czisny.

 The Ice Horizon Scholarships are administered by the Bowling Green Skating Club.  An independent committee will review applications and select scholarship recipients.  Up to (4) $250 scholarships will be awarded.

DUE: 4/15/19 (submit to P.O. Box 566, Bowling Green, OH 43402) – or to Slater Family Ice Arena Pro Shop

Requirement: BGSC member – either BGSC LTS or BGSC Primary

Money will be in the form of a gift card that can be used for Slater Family Ice Arena programming or camps, for ice time, and/or skating merchandise sold at the rink.  Monies must be used during the 2019-2020 skating season.
